An encounter with Ed Robinson is an encounter with one of Reggae music’s most consistently great contributors. Throughout the course of his over thirty year career Mr. Robinson has blessed the music industry with his talent both before the mic and behind the scenes.
Ed started his career as the drummer in a rock band, and gave hints of his versatility from the very beginning. Over the years he found himself becoming a key player in the diverse genres of Reggae, Rock, Soul, Hip Hop, and R & B. His tremendous production talent has found him at work with industry greats. While constantly at work in the studio, Robinson still found time to perform in such great stage shows as Reggae Carifest, Irie Jamboree, Ragga Muffin Festival and Sunsplash.
Robinson has produced eight albums to date, from his first VP produced effort “Once Again” in 1992 with the seminal “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” to successive albums released in 2004 – “Sky is the Limit” 2005 – “Solitude” with the classic “No More Mr. Lonely” and Dennis Brown staple “Ain’t That Loving You”, 2008 – “The Awakening”, 2011 – “Written in Stone” with the anthemic “Our Heroes” which got major airplay on inner city radio programs in Florida and the New York tri-state area, Europe and the Caribbean. This 15 track album spawned hits from “Baby I Love Ya”, “You’re Special”, “Cry No More”, “Talking Blues”, Cyberspace Girl” and a moving cover version of the Denise Brown classic “If I follow my Heart”. Robinson released two albums in 2014, “On Covers” and the “Tribute to John Holt” where he got a chance to pay homage to the late John Holt with the Kemar “Flava” McGregor produced album – an emotional outpouring of classics as reprised by Robinson, made even more poignant by the fact that the single “Let Your Hair Down” was being recorded when the news of Holt’s death on October 20 2014 in London broke. Yard Magic, the 8th album was released in 2015 with the single “Kool Off” sat at the top spot in the New York and Florida album charts in late 2015.
In 2016 Robinson has released several tracks including Thinking of you and his latest hit
“The Blame Game” featured on iTunes Hot tracks for 8 straight weeks.
